According to the study published in 2015 by the European Commission\u2019s Fisheries Commission, \u201cno fishing method in the history of humanity has proven to be as reliable, efficient and selective while also being sustainable and environmentally friendly.\u201d<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The sustainability of the almadrava is indisputable when compared to mechanised industrial fishing methods. Unlike trawling, it does not destroy the ocean bed and nor does it have the impact of longline fishing, which, in the rush to catch one species, kills other undesired and even protected ones. It is estimated that only 0.1% of the Atlantic bluefin tuna that pass by the Algarve on the way to the Mediterranean are caught in the nets.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

All our Atlantic bluefin tuna are wild adult fish caught using sustainable fishing techniques. They are bred, fed and caught to order, following the Japanese method of ike jime<\/i>. This technique not only minimizes the animal\u2019s suffering but also ensures the properties of the meat are kept intact.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
